Bachelor Winter Games: Dean Unglert, Ashley Iaconetti appearing
According to The Hollywood Reporter (who was on the scene of the opening for the “Games” earlier this week in Vermont), these two familiar faces are among the crew representing America on the show. There are going to be several other contestants from the U.S. version of the show plus also many other international versions — one name you can see over at the link here, and many others will likely be announced.
Are Ashley and Dean the best representatives of the show? Well, it depends on what you’re looking for. Ashley has become known as the frequently-crying contestant who had a serious thing for Jared on Bachelor in Paradise; yet, she’s become a big part of the podcasting world after the fact and has a big following. Dean, meanwhile, may just be on a redemption tour after completely screwing over his image on Bachelor in Paradise this past summer flipping back and forth between Kristina and Danielle. He probably needs to come out of this show a winner more than anyone if he wants to repair what little is left of his Bachelor Nation reputation.
As for the precisely what the premise of Bachelor Winter Games is, signs point to there being some sort of athletic component to the show. It doesn’t seem as hokey as Bachelor in Paradise, but there’s still going to be some sort of romance component to it because it’s The Bachelor. That’s just the sort of show this is.
When will it air?
As of right now, our feeling is that The Bachelor starring Arie Luyendyk Jr. will air throughout the month of January and following that, Bachelor Winter Games will start airing in February during the actual Winter Olympics. ABC will likely use this show to fill up some programming, similar to what CBS is doing with Big Brother: Celebrity Edition, and then bring The Bachelor back once it’s over. This has not been confirmed, but this is what makes the most sense given that Dancing with the Stars is premiering its latest season a little bit later than usual.
