Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 3 episode 8 return date for Rachel Bloom, cast
First, we should note that this said return date is not going to be for a while. Tonight is the midseason finale for the Rachel Bloom series, and on the other side of that you’re looking at Friday, January 5. That’s when Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will be back to enter the stretch run. Remember that this is a show that only runs 13 episodes a season, though it does cram a lot into that span of time. The third season has been especially eventful, starting off with Rebecca Bunch’s revenge mission on Josh and leading into her tragic suicide attempt and her eventually being diagnosed. The rest of the season could be about her finding a way to get better, an interesting and relatable struggle for everyone who has gone through hardship.
One of the things that we’re curious about is whether or not the episode titles are going to be an indicator as to where the show is going — the midseason finale, for example, is titled “Getting Over Jeff.” That is the first time in the show’s entire run on The CW that Josh is not named in a title. Maybe that is a trend that continues from here on out.
As for the future of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend as a series beyond this upcoming run of January / February episodes, The CW will have yet another tough decision. This is one of their lowest-rated series and it is likely not drawing much in the way of profits compared to some of the others on the schedule; yet, it’s a fan favorite and critical darling, and the network would be worse off without it. One thing we do want to point out is that even with the lower ratings considered, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is actually up more than 5% in the 18-49 demographic versus the season 2 average; in terms of total viewers, it’s up more than 10%. There are people discovering the show and we hope that this means something and leads the show into a season 4.
