Iron Fist season 2 adds Star Trek Into Darkness star Alice Eve to cast
In a new press release, Marvel and Netflix confirmed that Star Trek Into Darkness actress Alice Eve was going to be joining the upcoming season 2 cast. In true Marvel fashion, they’re not exactly giving you a whole lot else in the way of news about her role. With the nature of this show it’s easy to imagine her being thrust into the action or serving as a new foil to the title character otherwise known as Danny Rand (Finn Jones).
In a statement confirming the casting, Marvel’s TV head and show executive producer Jeph Loeb had the following message to pass along:
We are very excited to have an actress of Alice’s stature join the cast of ‘Marvel’s Iron Fist.’ Her exceptional talent brings an intrigue and danger to her character unlike anyone else.”
Eve is just one of many changes coming to the upcoming second season, as Raven Metzner is coming on board as the new showrunner, replacing Scott Buck, who left to do Marvel’s Inhumans for ABC.
If there is one thing that is significantly aiding Iron Fist season 2 going into it, it’s probably the amount of pressure that the show is feeling. When you compare it to some of the other shows that are in the Marvel – Netflix universe its reviews were not anywhere close to glowing. If it out-performs what people thought about the first season, there’s a chance that it may get some more people back on its side. While there were some flaws in season 1, we did find it by and large better than what most critics thought it was. What it was mostly lacking was a really great villain. We had already seen Madam Gao in Daredevil and as much as we love her, we were really over The Hand by this point.
Season 2 of Iron Fist is still pretty far from premiering — it’s possible that it comes out in 2018 though personally, we wouldn’t be shocked if you’re left waiting until 2018 to see Danny back in action.
