If you are interested in learning the Wayward Sisters air date, we’re happy to send a little bit of good news in your direction!
For the time being, Wayward Sisters is scheduled to air on Thursday, January 18 as a backdoor pilot during the flagship Supernatural. It’s a series that has long been discussed by fans and developed since earlier in the year. It stars Kathryn Love Newton, Kim Rhodes, Katherine Ramdeen, Brianna Buckmaster (just to name a few) and looks to bring a different voice and edge to this universe. You know some of these characters well, but you haven’t seen the likes of Sheriff Jody Mills or Claire Novak in this precise setting before!
One of the first photos of the backdoor pilot can be seen below via Entertainment Weekly, and we like to think that it provides something more to be excited about, though it also doesn’t show exactly all that this series will have to offer in terms of action or mystery. It’s largely just a chance to see a different color palette that this show could be working with — it’ll have the essence of Supernatural but also its own vibe.
While it’s probably going to be unclear for a while as to whether or not Wayward Sisters becomes a full-fledged series, there is plenty of reason right now to be hopeful for the future. Unlike the previous Supernatural spin-off attempt in Supernatural: Bloodlines, the majority of the characters on this show are familiar faces. You already know them and have seen them onscreen together in some various combinations. This built-in audience could go a long way. The only thing seemingly hurting Wayward Sisters at the moment is that there are so many other CW shows right now that there’s not a lot of real estate. Even if new shows Valor and Dynasty fail to make it to another season and The Originals is ending, this is still a network that only programs ten hours a week. We don’t see any of the superhero shows going anywhere right now (save for Black Lightning, which hasn’t premiered yet), Supernatural is safe, and Riverdale is a social-media phenomenon that grew its audience exponentially over the summer.
