Did Grace Davies or Rak-Su win The X Factor season 14?

Did Grace Davies or Rak-Su win The X Factor season 14? The final showdown aired on ITV tonight to great suspense.

Going into the show, most seemed to project that the man-band Rak-Su was going to take home the title, making them the first male group to ever win the competition. They had a number of great performances in their category, and to go along with that the mentorship and support of one Simon Cowell. They had every reason in the world to win the whole shebang, which is probably why we felt like the door was open for Grace. The winners of The X Factor are not always the most expected and we’ve seen on many different occasions groups fall short at the finish line. Just look at One Direction and Reggie ‘N Bollie, who each made it extremely far on their respective seasons. Little Mix is the only one to have won the prize. Sometimes, it’s just inherently harder for groups to make that emotional connection that is often needed to get viewers on their side.

So … who was the winner at the end of the day? Dermot O’Leary revealed after a ton of hype (and a lot of video packages) that the champion for 2017 was none other than … Rak-Su! This season, the show actually did have a pretty predictable ending. Simon had nothing but kind things to say about not only the group, but the sponsors and everyone who was a part of the show.

This was a tender, emotional win, and we also have to give Grace a ton of credit, as well. She seemed to be all right at the end of the season — it probably helps that there are plenty of runners-up who have done very well on the charts over the years. Olly Murs is one example — heck, Ella Henderson didn’t even make it to the final on her season! There’s still a lot of hope for her to have a great career in this industry.
