Outlander season 4: The new sights of Scotland (as North Carolina)

Outlander season 4

While you check out tonight’s episode “The Bakra,” why not also take a look at the latest Outlander season 4 updates?

If you look below, you can see a couple of different images as to some of what Scotland-as-North Carolina could look like when the next season premieres on Starz — one is from Caitriona Balfe (Claire), one is from Sam Heughan (Jamie), and another is from Maril Davis (executive producer). The intention of these photos is not so much to present the scenery through the lens of how exactly it will look on the show; yet, this is more the cast and crew showing more of where they are at the moment. They are hard at work filming the show in central Scotland. In her post Balfe specifically references the Perthshire region.

What’s important in looking at these photos is that, (just based on the geography alone) you can see a little bit of North Carolina in there. This should alleviate any concerns that people had about the location being suitable as a double. It appears as though it’s going to work out just fine when you get the set designers in there and have the right costumes / flora and fauna in place. Remember that this is a show that has, rather effectively, transformed South Africa into the Caribbean. Regardless of whether or not you’ve seen “The Bakra” yet, you have probably seen enough to be confident in what the show is doing.

Outlander is seemingly going to remain in Scotland through the end of the year filming scenes; eventually we’ve heard that they will travel elsewhere in Europe, but the precise location remains to be seen. It’s also to be determined if this move to another country is going to bring with it a cast presence. The series could just be filming some exterior shots to make the setting all the more authentic.

Based on the current Outlander timeline, it seems as though everything is getting done for the series to launch on Starz in the fall of 2018. Let’s hope that remains the case given that we have a hard time imagining that we as viewers are going to be able to handle another long Droughtlander — especially after the excellence we’re getting during season 3.
