NCIS season 15: Sean Murray reflects on Mark Harmon pre-show gig

Sean Murray

Sean Murray has worked with Mark Harmon on NCIS for a good decade and a half, but it turns out they worked together before that!

In a new appearance on The Talk late this week, Murray confirmed that he and Harmon worked together previously on a show called Harts of the West a good decade or so before the long-running crime drama happened. Murray was a regular at the time on that short-lived series, and Harmon stopped by at one point for a guest appearance. He made a strong impression on him, which eventually did lead to the two actors having an almost-instant relationship with each other down the road when NCIS eventually came to fruition.

Now, Murray and Harmon are two of the longest-tenured members of the cast. While Murray wasn’t a regular on the first season, he joins David McCallum and Pauley Perrette (departing at the end of the season) as the only major cast members left who have been around and experienced the bulk of the entire journey. They’ve gotten a chance to experience a wide array of the ups and downs that come with being on a show like this — that definitely includes plenty of highs, given that we’re writing here about the #1 show on TV around the world at the moment.

Also in this interview Murray opened up about a number of other different, but interesting topics, including what it was like working with the babies when he and Delilah welcomed their twins into the world. As it turns out, it was a little more challenging than it appeared on screen — or at least it was for Margo Harshman. Apparently, the baby that Murray worked with was as happy as can be. The little boy, however, wasn’t quite so keen to go along with being a part of the show. We would imagine that we will see the twins and Delilah again down the road given that they are going to be a huge part of McGee’s story. They are all a major part of his life now and they will impact both his home and work life in ways that even he may not anticipate.

NCIS returns with new episodes on CBS later this month.
