Unfortunately, the bad news that we have to offer at the moment is this: There is no new installment coming onto CBS on Sunday, December 3. The network is taking a week off from their programming, and it’s going to be returning instead on December 10 with an installment entitled “Minefield.” There is a clear holiday theme to the installment, judging from the synopsis CarterMatt has for you below:

“Minefield” – Secretary of State McCord reluctantly agrees to host a holiday party in the hopes of persuading senators in attendance to pass a treaty that requires countries to destroy landmines. Also, Henry tries to find evidence that the Senate Majority Leader exchanged information with the Russians, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Dec. 10(10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

We feel for Elizabeth in this episode because she’s basically having to work overtime. Not only that, but there’s a touch of undercover operative that she is having to play into here in order to get the job done. She needs to sell some of the attendees to her holiday party on the notion that they are just there to have a good time. The twist? Surprise! You’re actually there in order to listen to her discuss policy and help make sure a treaty goes through. We’d listen to her, but at the end of it ask for the strongest eggnog she has to make up for the lost holiday-party time.

As for the story involving Henry and the Senate Majority leader, we don’t think that anyone has to work all that hard in order to find some of the connections between this storyline and what’s going on in modern-day America. What is somewhat interesting here though, is that Madam Secretary is making this story almost more small-scale than what is going on in actual America at the moment. In real life, we’re talking about allegations that are starting at the very top with the President.
