NCIS season 15 video: Mark Harmon, cast praise Maria Bello

Maria Bello

There is no new episode of NCIS season 15 airing on CBS tonight, but that doesn’t mean that CarterMatt doesn’t have any news on the show!

Today, we’re talking mostly about Maria Bello, who first joined NCIS earlier this year in the role as Jack Sloane. She immediately established a chemistry with Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the team and there have been many fun moments and sequences that we’ve had a chance to see play out this season. Our primary hope at the moment is that we get more opportunities to get to learn about her and her history (we are still wondering about how she got those scars on her back!) — while also seeing if there are some other surprises that we haven’t had a chance to hear about yet. We’d like to know more about how she grew up and what led to her having a career in forensic psychology. Beyond just that, we’d also like to have a greater understanding as to what she can do out in the field.

What strikes us the most about what some of the cast members have to say in this video below is that everyone is focusing on Bello as a person. When she landed this gig it was already pretty apparent that she was a very good performer; yet, at the same time being a great person outside of the role is just as important. These are people you’re going to be working with on extremely long days for many months at a time, and they’re also people who you’ll be attending press tours and red-carpet events with. It’s important that these are people you get along with given that otherwise, you’re running the risk that the quality of the show suffers. You’re only as strong as some of the people you surround yourself with at the end of the day.

NCIS returns to CBS next month with a holiday-themed episode, and beyond that you will get a chance to see Harmon, Bello, and the rest of the cast throughout the month of January.
