Major Crimes season 6: Mary McDonnell’s daughter Olivia Mell to sing at Shandy wedding

Mrs. Carter: The Shandy wedding on Major Crimes season 6 just got that much more special!

According to a new report from TVLine, joining all of the attendees above at the big ceremony for Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) and Andy Flynn (Tony Denison) is going to be none other than McDonnell’s own real-life daughter Olivia Mell (you can see a photo of the two of them below). Olivia will be performing at the wedding, under the name of Olivia Jane (you can see one of her music videos below for reference). Bringing her daughter on board the show is further proof of just how much this show and this union means to her.

The Shandy wedding on Major Crimes is an event that’s been a long time coming, but good things come to those who wait! The engagement happened back during season 5 and we’ve seen these two characters developing into something more than just co-workers for seasons before that. Their love story has long felt real and relatable, and it’s nice to see that they are going to find a way to celebrate their marriage in the midst of what is going to be an insane ending (potentially) to the big “Sanctuary City” story arc that the show has been following this season. We’ve already seen a number of surprising twists and turns to date, so we expect there to be even more to come.

While this wedding is going to likely serve as a great culmination for this entire arc of the show, it’s far from the end of the final season. Another arc is going to begin starting next week, and there will be one more after that leading up to the big series finale. It’s going to make for a bittersweet ending to the series — while we’ve had a chance to see six great seasons of this show (plus The Closer before it), you do get the sense still that there was more that this series had left in the tank had we had an opportunity to see it. This isn’t the time to feel sad, though — the wedding ceremony is a celebration and we hope that the show really establishes this to be every bit as happy and joyous as we would want for it to be.
