Blindspot season 4 progress report: What will it take for Jaimie Alexander series to be renewed?

Blindspot season 4

Is there hope still for a Blindspot season 4 in the future? Should there be hope? It’s an interesting discussion based on where the show is now.

So far through season 3, we’ve seen the Jaimie Alexander – Sullivan Stapleton series drop in terms of total viewers and the 18-49 demographic — though, to be fair, that is expected. The show is bringing in on average a 0.7 rating right now, which is okay for Fridays. It’s not enough to top MacGyver for the #1 show in the time slot, but it’s okay.

The question that you have to wonder here is this: Is it doing well enough for NBC to profit off of it? There’s an incentive to give it a season 4 for the sake of syndication alone — this is a show that would play well on markets around the country, especially given that it has enough of a procedural component to make people excited who want to check out the show on a weekly basis. While it may be true that syndication is not the monster that it was many years ago, it does still have some merit and value.

Yet, how much money is Blindspot even making at the moment? That’s another determining factor in the show’s future, especially since this is a show coming from an outside studio in Warner Bros. On many occasions over the years we’ve seen networks value owning their own properties more so than any other. NBC has resisted that trend slightly over the years, but how long can something like that last?

When will we find out about the Blindspot season 4 renewal?

There’s a reasonably good chance that NBC will confirm it in the weeks before the May sweeps, but that’s when we could expect it if the network really wants to go down to the wire with it. Blindspot is a show that many people out there love, but love only goes so far. If you are very much invested in the show the biggest piece of advice we can offer is this: Watch! Not only that, but watch live!
