Jason Derulo Thanksgiving Halftime Show: Singer performs in Lions – Vikings game
What did Derulo decide to perform on the show? He opened his set with a performance of “Talk Dirty To Me” that was high-energy and in his traditional style. We’ll be the first to admit, though, that we’re not the biggest fan in the world of Derulo’s music — most of it lies within the pop-radio world and that’s not a place we find ourselves listening these days (we are stuck in a time wrap when it comes to music). Still, we did recognize another one of his hits in “Want to Want Me.” We’d say that this was a solid, but not especially memorable, performance from the singer.
The one thing that we are a little bit confused about when it comes to the NFL is this: Why not book someone from Detroit for the performance? It’s such a special city and one with such a deep musical history. Remember Motown? It just makes more sense to honor local talent — no offense to Derulo, but this was an opportunity that the league could have jumped on.
For some, we know that the Thanksgiving Halftime Show regardless is a break in the action from having to watch a near-constant stream of football. Meanwhile, for others this is probably a bathroom or a turkey break for those of you who love to have your Thanksgiving meal a little bit earlier in the day. For us, our ideal is to get some of that turkey in the late afternoon before munching on some pie, snacks and leftovers throughout the rest of the day.
This is the first of two high-profile Thanksgiving Day Halftime Shows overall; later today during the Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers game, country superstar Thomas Rhett is going to hit the stage. He follows in a long line of country performers to take part in the annual halftime – Salvation Army collaboration with the Cowboys. Maybe that’ll be a nice distraction from all of the other craziness happening with the Cowboys.
