Is someone dying on the Empire season 4 fall finale?

Unfortunately, Empire season 4 is not on the air Wednesday night thanks to the Thanksgiving holiday. Contrary to some reports that are out there this is not because of Fox “delaying” the show or anything of the sort — it was always the plan for it to take the week off. There have been some seasons in the past where there are new episodes of Empire airing the day before Turkey Day and, (at least in the ratings) it didn’t end well. This is a show that isn’t anywhere near the ratings monster that it once was and as a result of that, it needs to maintain all of the ratings momentum that it possibly can.

With that in mind here, we’re happy to present a little more information now on what is coming up in the fall finale! This episode is entitled “Slave to Memory” and is airing on Wednesday, December 13 — judging from the title alone, we do wonder if this is some sort of intentional reference to Lucious’ memory struggles, which have defined him for most of the season. The Empire season 4 episode 9 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below suggests that the war between the Lyon family and Diana Dubois is continuing, at least for a little while longer:

Cookie and Lucious devise an elaborate plan to take down Diana Dubois and her family once and for all. Andre recovers from his mental breakdown in the hospital, Shine tries desperately to protect his secret and Eddie Barker is concluding his tenure at Empire. Amidst the chaos, someone’s life hangs in the balance in the all-new “Slave to Memory” fall finale episode of EMPIRE airing Wednesday, Dec. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Isn’t it interesting seeing just how stories evolve? It wasn’t all that long ago when we were considering the Dubois family to be nothing more than foils for Cookie rather than full-on adversaries. Now, we’re on the brink of vast destruction from two of the most powerful families in the entire city. It wouldn’t be a shock if this episode marks the end of the Dubois family as we know it.
