The Partridge Family star David Cassidy dead at 67

David Cassidy

Terribly sad news is breaking when it comes to The Partridge Family star and former teen singing idol David Cassidy has died at the age of 67 following news over the weekend of organ failure. He was 67 years old. There was a time when Cassidy was one of the most famous young stars in all of America, known for his voice, his style, and his music. He was a precursor for many of the teen idols that we’ve seen on TV since.

In a statement, his publicist JoAnn Geffen had the following to say via Variety:

“On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years.”

While Cassidy has in recent years appeared more on reality TV — he was an early exit on one season of The Celebrity Apprentice — he was a regular on the short-lived series Ruby & the Rockits, which aired back in 2009. He is also the father of longtime CW star Katie Cassidy, who is currently a regular on Arrow in the role of Black Siren. When the news broke of her father’s health struggles over the weekend she cut short one of her appearances at a Heroes & Villains Fan Fest convention.

As for one of the best ways possible in order to tribute Cassidy, why not present a video of one of the greatest videos that he’s ever done? Below, you can see his version of “I Think I Love You,” one of the most iconic performances to come out of that show. We do think that this is the song that really skyrocketed everything for him. (The fact that a song this many decades old still has millions of views on YouTube just shows the widespread impact of the song.)

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Cassidy and all of his family / loved ones during what has to be an incredibly difficult time for all of them. (Photo: ABC.)
