The Resident, LA to Vegas premiere dates official at Fox

The Resident and LA to Vegas are to of the new series coming up on Fox in the new year; now, we’ve got a better idea as to when they are going to premiere.

Let’s start here with The Resident, which is a pretty ambitious series when you think about its cast (Matt Czuchry of The Good Wife and Emily VanCamp of Revenge) and also how the network is going to be launching it. Rather than giving The X-Files a little bit of extra love after the NFC Championship Game, The Resident is premiering after the game on Sunday, January 21. For the time being, it appears that the show will start at 10:00 p.m. Eastern but that is subject to change.

You can see the full trailer for The Resident below, and that goes along with the official logline:

An idealistic young doctor begins his first day eager to save lives. Under the supervision of a tough, brilliant senior resident, he’ll soon discover his chosen profession is not what he imagined and that ethical lines are often blurred.

Basically, The Resident is continuing the recent trend of medical dramas. Given the success of The Good Doctor on ABC, we’re not surprised that Fox thinks that it will be able to pull in some pretty enormous numbers.

Meanwhile, Fox also confirmed today that the Dylan McDermott airline comedy LA to Vegas is going to be starting up on January 2 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. This will push back The Mick. This is a comedy that has a lot of potential based on the premise alone — after all, there really aren’t all that many comedies out there on TV that feature this sort of setting and are anywhere this over-the-top. Airplane! is obviously the gold standard here, but we are very much intrigued about what this show brings to the table.

Take a look at the logline / trailer for LA to Vegas below:

Set on the Friday night flight from LAX to Vegas and the returning flight on Sunday, it follows a group of underdogs trying to find their place in the world who all share the same goal: to come back a winner in the casino of life.
