This Doctor Who – Sherlock dream crossover photo is everything we needed
Granted, there was another problem: It being far too ridiculous a project to pull off. Maybe you could make Sherlock Holmes a part of the Doctor Who canon, but it would be hard for Sherlock to accept the idea of a Time Lord with multiple hearts who can regenerate into different bodies. That just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to someone like him. Also, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are often so busy that you want to envision the two of them pouring every possible second that they have available into Sherlock itself given that they are not going to have a whole lot of time to do anything else.
For a little bit of fun, frequent Doctor Who director Rachel Talalay posted on Twitter a photo of Peter Capaldi visiting the Sherlock set — it’s actually a photo she first took some time ago, but it’s still a rather nice treat for some fans out there and it’s probably the closest thing that we are ever going to get to this actually happening.
After all, one of the biggest reasons why there’s even less of a chance of this now is due to Moffat’s departure from Doctor Who at the end of the season. The two shows are about to lose what little connective tissue they have. There’s also, of course, the issue that nobody even knows if Sherlock is ever coming back to the air. We’d love to see it and it seems like most parties are interested, but it’s still not 100% as of yet.
