Is Madam Secretary season 4 episode 8 show’s El Chapo story?

Madam Secretary season 4 episode 8

On Madam Secretary season 4 episode 8 on November 26, the writers seem to be ripping a story right from the headlines. If you look at the synopsis CarterMatt has for you below for “The Fourth Estate,” you can get a sense as to what the writers seem to be doing with a storyline inspired in part by the El Chapo pandemonium that played out in the press many months ago:

“The Fourth Estate” – Secretary of State McCord and her staff work with the Mexican government to extradite a Mexican cartel leader to a U.S. prison in an effort to diminish the opioid crisis. But after he escapes during transport and a journalist who secured a gloating interview with him while on the lam is murdered, Elizabeth’s urgency to find the leader escalates, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Nov. 26 (10:30-11:30 PM, ET/10:00-11:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Are there some clear differences here? Sure, since this synopsis doesn’t indicate that a Sean Penn sort of personality is getting involved. Yet, both stories involve an infamous Mexican criminal. Through the Madam Secretary lens, this is more about the state department and what can be done to resolve the matter before anyone else gets hurt. We would say that by and large this is a different sort of story than we’re used to seeing on this show, just because we don’t often see too many stories that involve Elizabeth trying to take care of a criminal centrally located (seemingly) in America. Yet, here we are, and as we dive deeper into this story hopefully there will be more information regarding what she is going to be able to do in order to stop this leader and resolve the issue before anyone else gets hurt.

What’s also worth noting is that this episode is the second with Sara Ramirez as a member of the cast; with that, we should have a nice opportunity to see her settled in with everyone else. (Sidebar: Were you aware that this show has twelve people considered series regulars, Ramirez included? That is a lot for any scripted CBS show.)
