Who died in the How to Get Away with Murder season 4 winter finale?

Jimmy Smits

Who died on the How to Get Away with Murder season 4 winter finale? That was a question we’d been dreading getting an answer on all night.

Yet, the show didn’t waste that much time on Thursday night giving you an answer. About halfway through the episode it was apparent that we may be losing Simon Lewis from the show. In what is a true marker of what this show is, the death almost faded to the background until another crazy twist: Maybe he wasn’t dead at all! It would probably actually be better for the Keating 4 that he was dead given that he was being set up as a fall guy in their quest to stop Laurel’s father, but judging from seeing him at the hospital there may be a chance that he pulls through.

If he lives, imagine what he could do with the information he now knows after overhearing their plans? This could be a chance for the show to have a really great villain!

Meanwhile, we saw Annalise deliver Laurel’s baby from outside of an elevator shaft, only to then perform CPR to save its life. In the midst of so many scenes of Annalise doing awful things, wasn’t it nice to see her doing something valiant for a change?

In what was possibly the happiest moment that we’ve had to close off a winter finale / finale for the show, we heard the baby crying! Annalise saved the day … or at least however much of it she could. Keeping Laurel’s baby alive effectively saved the show from delivering one of the darkest twists in the history of the show.

Here’s the biggest twist of all

Technically, the How to Get Away with Murder winter finale didn’t kill anyone! While Simon could die, we think the he will be okay. The larger question moving into the second half of season 4 is what happens next, including if Laurel is ready to be a mother at this point and whether or not she’s even remotely safe.

Also, are the Keating 5 ever going to learn how to stay out of trouble? That’d probably be a smart move for them.
