Stana Katic talks Absentia season 2 after Amazon pickup
In a new post on Facebook, Katic shared the following in the wake of the Sony-produced show getting its US home announced — it may not be getting the press of the Amazon acquisition but we do think that it’s easily just as important:
“So much to celebrate today! [Absentia’s] pickup by Amazon was officially announced today, which means more nights of swanky Karaoke for my Bulgarian krew and me in season 2! Congrats to the whole cast & crew of ABSENTIA! Well done & well deserved!!”
A season 2 pickup for the series was something that we did want to see for the show for a number of different reasons, with the biggest one being a sign of faith from Sony to the show’s writers and producers to keep doing what they are doing. This is a series that is airing all over the world now and they’ve shown that this is a concept that can be adequately sold; therefore, it does make a certain degree of sense to continue to get more content out there.
Production-wise, it does also make sense to have this renewal announcement happen now for a number of different reasons, with the biggest one being that this should give the writers time to get some story together before filming begins next year. If the show is operating under a similar production window a renewal needed to happen soon for them to be able to keep things fairly steady.
Other questions to ponder
Could season 2 be more of a simultaneously launch than season 1 around the world? Which cast members will be returning? Will the second season be its own long-form arc? There are a lot of subjects that we will be discussing here at CarterMatt between now and when the show premieres here in America. As of right now there is no launch date for the series but given that its entire first season will be done airing elsewhere by the new year, we don’t think that Amazon is going to make you wait all that long to see new episodes. Winter is the perfect time to get this show out there: There are a lot of people looking for something to do during the colder months when there is very little sunlight and little incentive to go outside.
What do you think about getting an Absentia season 2, and is this officially the greatest day for viewers of the show all over the world yet? Share in the comments!
