Timeless fans, the wait for production to start is finally over! This week marked the official beginning of Timeless season 2 production. For more on that, we come bearing photographic proof!
Below, you can see a series of lovely little reminders that the show is back, including a photo from Abigail Spencer, a video featuring Malcolm Barrett, and also an image of the first table read via the show’s writers room.
One of the nice things about the first image is the confirmed return of Annie Wersching. She played Emma Whitmore on a number of occasions at the end of the season, and given her connection to Rittenhouse and the overall arc of the story, it makes sense to see her back. Hopefully, there is another important character who will be coming back in the early going in Susanna Thompson. The Arrow alum plays Lucy Preston’s mother, and at the end of the first season she dropped an enormous bomb when she revealed that she was very well aware of Rittenhouse and had been the whole time.
In terms of specific time periods for season 2 the writers are keeping that a mystery, largely because they know they have a rather long time to wait until the show ends up coming back. Given the late start to production — at least in comparison to some other network series for the fall / spring — we’re likely looking at either a late spring premiere or early summer. Earlier this fall we mapped out at CarterMatt some possible time slots in the event that the show does come back in the summer. We’d like to see it return before then, but there are no guarantees when it comes to that sort of thing. Much of it could depend on the performance of some of NBC’s other shows.
For now, just rejoice that the time team is now back in action! Timeless is a show that owes its fans everything, and its second season should be a celebration of that.
