Madam Secretary season 4 episode 5: Stevie, Jareth break up
As Stevie confessed prior to the start of the fashion show, she and Jareth had broken up just a couple of days before. With that in mind, she found herself in a tough, vulnerable position. This wasn’t just an ordinary breakup; it was a fairly high-profile one given who her mother is. This is not the easiest breakup in the world to handle, and it’s going to take a good bit of support for her to end up working back to the person she once was.
The breakup for these two characters was telegraphed in part on last week’s new episode, so we should say that we were a little more prepared for this than some other jaw-droppers over the years. Still, there was that part of us that felt that these two were going to somehow figure this out and find a way to move forward.
Elsewhere in the episode, it did appear as though Madam Secretary was ready to move forward with Jay as the new Chief of Staff. Nadine’s exit is still very much felt, but the show does have to move forward and they’re doing it with someone certainly qualified. Remember, the arrival of Sara Ramirez is on the horizon and CarterMatt is still waiting to see precisely what she ends up bringing to the State Department. It should be a very different role for her than Callie on Grey’s Anatomy!
In the end, Madam Secretary season 4 episode 5 was a good episode for the show in terms of drama, but a tough one for some of the characters. In terms of Stevie in particular we do think that there is going to be a tough road ahead for her.
