The Flash season 4 spoilers: The hilarious premise of ‘Girls Night Out’

Girls Night Out

Tuesday night’s new episode of The Flash is entitled “Girls Night Out,” and signs point to it being funny for many reasons. One of the central ones though, is that this could be an episode of The Flash without the actual Flash! It’s a chance for the writers to try something different and also throw some of the supporting characters in the role of hero.

In speaking on the subject of what lies ahead in “Girls Night Out” to Entertainment Weekly, show executive producer Andrew Kreisberg passed along the following message:

“I think it’s the first episode we’ve ever done where Barry doesn’t wear the suit … We started with the concept of, ‘Wouldn’t it be really funny if Barry goes for the bachelor party with the guys and Candice goes for a bachelorette party with the girls, and the guys end up having the worst night ever and the girls wind up saving the city?’ That was where we started from, and that’s where it ended up.”

As of right now, the villain for this episode appears to be Amunet Black (Katee Sackhoff), who has ties to Caitlin Snow when she was away from the team during the hiatus. There may not be a battle between Barry and a villain in this episode — as far as we know his adversary could just be too much alcohol. Even though Joe West is his father figure and he should be looking out for him, we also figure at the moment that he has some other distractions on his mind now that he knows that he will be a father decades after being one the first time.

Will The Thinker turn up? It’s possible, but given that Neil Sandilands is only recurring at this point this could be an opportunity to take a week off from the character before returning to him down the line. As we reported recently, season 4 episode 7 will be a huge episode for him as we learn more about his backstory and how he became the smartest man in the multiverse — so smart that he seems to have plotted out his entire plan for Barry ever since the start of the series. He now is plotting more of what he wants his next move to be.
