Ray Donovan alum Paula Malcomson finds new TV role on Syfy’s Krypton
So where does this leave her now? It’s a rather interesting and surprising destination in Krypton, a series that is far and away different than Ray Donovan in almost every way. This upcoming Syfy project is a prequel to the Superman origin story, one that focuses on one of Kal-El’s ancestors and a man responsible for allowing his story to be possible. Take a look at the log-line CarterMatt has for you below:
“Based on DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, it is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather, whose House of El was ostracized and shamed, as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.”
Malcomson, (per a report from Deadline) is going to play a significant guest-starring role on Krypton in Charys, the matriarch for the legendary House El. Her addition is coming via recasting following the pilot, and she will be essential in helping her son Seg handle some of the many problems that comes with living in the Kryptonian hub of Kandor City.
Getting Malcomson on board at this point represents to us one thing and one thing only: The producers of Krypton looking to establish some sort of cred right away when it comes to what they’re bringing the table. Ray Donovan fans are a loyal bunch, and there may be a way that some of them follow Paula to this show now that Abby’s time is done. It’s a smart move on their part since they’re going to have to contend with the fact that there are a about a million other superhero shows on the air these days.
