Designated Survivor season 2 episode 7 return date: News on ‘Family Ties’
Still with us? Well, here it is. Why in the world did ABC air a new episode of the show tonight? After all, game 7 of the world series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros is taking place. This game is sucking up ratings like nobody’s business, and as result of that Designated Survivor is likely going to sink. All you have to do is look at the Twitter timeline for #DesignatedSurvivor to realize that there are a lot of fans of the show who are actually watching the big game instead. Many other networks, including NBC and CBS, got the hint after yesterday’s ratings fiasco and decided to preempt most of their programming so that they wouldn’t be impacted all that much.
Unfortunately in this case – it is what it is, but we can give you some news as to what’s coming up next time. The funny thing about Designated Survivor season 2 episode 7 is that it’s actually not airing next week. If you are going to take a week off, why are you doing it next week? The reason for the delay is going to be because of the CMA Awards. This is something that ABC does every year, so it’s really not all that much of a surprise. This may also explain a little bit as to why the show is airing tonight, if for no other reason than that maybe they didn’t want to have Kiefer Sutherland and the rest of the cast gone for 2 weeks. It’s a show on the renewal bubble and that sort of hiatus may be too big of a risk. Personally, we at CarterMatt still think airing tonight was a pretty bad move.
The title for the November 15 episode of Designated Survivor is “Family Ties,” and you can get some more news as to what is coming up in the synopsis below:
“When a Turkish activist ignites protests in the U.S., Turkey’s president demands his extradition while the first family unknowingly finds themselves in the center of a battle that could threaten Leo’s future.”
Obviously, this is a huge storyline that will thrust Kirkman (and the rest of the family) into a political minefield. Do you extradite someone causing problems in the United States? Make the wrong decision and it comes back to bite you in big ways.
