The Toy Box preview: My Doll Room, RoboMustache, Glow Flyer, more
Below, you can take a further look at all of these toys — completely with both the ABC description of them and some of our own personal thoughts.
Glow Flyer – a light-up Frisbee that changes colors when you play with it
Inventors: Michael and Michael from Clifton Park, New York
The idea sounds like a lot of fun, especially since you can’t really play with a regular Frisbee at night. With that being said, it feels like the odds of pulling a George of the Jungle with this and running right into a tree are fairly high.
My Doll Room – a portable, collapsible dollhouse with different decorating options
Inventors: Rory and Molly from Lakeville, Connecticut
There could be some serious replay value with this, and one of the biggest issues with a normal dollhouse is that they’re inconvenient since they typically aren’t portable. If this actually proves to be sturdy and functional it could be a rather big hit.
RoboMustache – a collection of wooden robot craft kits
Inventor: Charles from Asheboro, North Carolina
Love the name — it’s unique and instantly memorable. Plus, who doesn’t love robots these days? The question we have, (given that this is a craft) is if it’s for the right age range? Is it too complicated for these kids?
Tournament of Towers – a competitive, point-driven tower building game
Inventors: Donovan and Jeff from Los Angeles, California
It’s easy to figure out why there are so many interactive games on The Toy Box in general — they all present and sell themselves really well on television.
Hybrid Creatures – dolls that represent combinations of different animals and mythical creatures
Inventor: Pamella from Pleasant Grove, Utah
This sounds like it should be fairly adorable, but it remains to be seen if that is actually the case. The creativity of the design will matter most of all here.
Camp Outrageous – an outdoorsy board game where players race to be the first to complete a campgrounds-inspired obstacle course
Inventor: Thom from Chicago, Illinois
Like we said with Tournament of Towers, this will create a fun segment for the show. The question worth debating is if this said game will be both fun and easy for the kids to understand.
Archipelagolf – a reimagined portable golf set in which a ball launcher is used instead of golf clubs
Inventor: Doyle from Clovis, California
We already had one golf-related product this season — will this one work, or will the kids even be able to pronounce its name?
