Blindspot season 3 spoilers: The Weller, Roman, and Berlin mystery

There are many questions circling around the CarterMatt offices when it comes to Blindspot season 3, but one of the biggest ones is this: What happened in Berlin?

In the closing minutes of the premiere episode that aired on Friday one of the things that we learned was that the character of Weller has some sort of secret regarding Berlin, and it’s something that Roman has some sort of dirt on. This complicates things moving forward given that we could end up seeing Weller act in a way that we wouldn’t quite expect to see from him. Roman could manipulate him to get whatever he wants from him. While Weller may not seem the type to bow to blackmail, we’ve see other characters dealing with this same issue on other shows in very unexpected ways as well (like with Ressler over on The Blacklist). This should prove interesting to watch as the weeks go on.

While of course showrunner Martin Gero is not going to give you every detail regarding what is coming up here, he did pass along the following message to TVLine on the subject:

“Roman has something on Weller that will be, both emotionally and plot-wise, so explosive that Weller’s the only person he could go after with this kind of information. It’s huge. You have to pitch these shows to get the next season, and when I pitched what Berlin was, people literally gasped in the room. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re a shoo-in. We’re for sure going to get a third season.’”

Basically, this seems to be the sort of thing that is going to send the fanbase into a tizzy and we’re all about it. This is precisely the sort of thing that you want to see if you enjoy watching a show like Blindspot for some of the drama, twists, and turns. Our major hope now is simply that the show finds a way to live up to some of the enormous hype that they are setting up for themselves — based both on this quote and what we saw during the premiere for the show.
