Ray Donovan season 6 premiere date hopes for Showtime drama
Ultimately, we do wish we could sit here and proclaim to know when the specific premiere date for the Liev Schreiber series is going to be, but the reality here is that we’re still a good nine or so months away from it (most likely!). We have a hard time imagining that Showtime is going to be in all that big of a hurry to announce anything when it comes to the show, mostly because they don’t really need to. They probably don’t feel a whole lot of pressure one way or another to announce it this early with so much of the fall season eating up the spotlight right now.
If we did have a preference, however, we would say this: It strongly benefits Showtime to go ahead and put Ray Donovan season 6 on in July as opposed to August. We don’t love the fact that we had to see the show up against the majority of network primetime in the fall, plus NFL football. It’s a lot to ask any one show to have to deal with all of that, even one that is as good as this one. The truth here is that now that it’s entering its sixth season this is a show that has the ability, (similar to many of Showtime’s great series) to get viewers no matter when it airs. This is a summer show traditionally and we’d personally prefer for it to stay that way if we had any say on the matter — but, like we said, that’s just our own personal preference.
What we do know about season 6 is this: The show will be moving its setting to New York, and while there is no guarantee that it will be the final season, we do figure that someone out there is probably thinking towards an end game at this point. You have to when you get this far into your run as a show.
