Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 4: Is Belle dead?
Once Upon a Time season 7 episode 4 was a story of pain, and also a story of passion. Was Belle dead by the end of it?
Well, it turns out that there was a reason why there were photos and videos out there in advance featuring Emilie de Ravin’s character at various stages of her life. She and Rumpelstiltskin, despite everything that they went through, had a chance to have their own story and have a life together. Rumple went on a journey to rid himself of the dagger and all of the pain of his past. He has a chance to begin a new journey, but he will have to do it without his great love. Belle is gone, but she got a beautiful send-off. Who knows? Maybe at some point on the other side of it we’ll get a chance to see the two of them together in the show’s version of the afterlife.
In a statement talking about the departure, Robert Carlyle had the following to say (per TVLine) about saying farewell to Belle:
“Throughout the years, [creators] Adam [Horowitz] and Eddy [Kitsis] have provided me with some truly outstanding scripts and ‘Beauty’ is most definitely up there with the best of them. The emotional range this script demanded was exceptional and to have had the opportunity to work alongside director Mick Garris on this piece was a real pleasure.
“Through six seasons I’ve been blessed to have had the chance to work alongside the brilliant Emilie de Ravin, and being reunited with Emilie once more on this beautiful episode was such a joy. The entire ‘Rumbelle’ journey has been one of the most intense in my entire career and sharing that journey with Emilie has been an absolute delight.”
Meanwhile, Emilie also added the following:
“This show wouldn’t exist without our amazing fan base. It’s such a beautiful, cool, exciting thing to be able to connect with them — whether it’s through social media or doing conventions. To hear people’s stories of ‘I met my best friend…,’ ‘I met my boyfriend…,’ ‘My children and I watch the show…,’ ‘It helped me through this….’ There are so many beautiful things that we are blessed to be able to hear about. To make people feel, to let people escape for an hour… or if they need a release to cry or laugh, or just a moment to sit down with their family and enjoy watching something… is special and so lovely. I love you, guys!”
What did you think about this episode? Do you think that this was a beautiful send-off to Belle? (We have a hard time imagining there being many dry eyes out there.) Share in the comments below!
