MacGyver season 2 episode 6 preview: The mission in Nigeria
“Jet Engine + Pickup Truck” – Using a cassette player and a plastic bucket, Mac and the team attempt to extinguish a massive oil wellhead fire in a Nigerian village, set by a rebel group, which is trying to topple its government by destroying their most valuable resource, on MACGYVER, Friday, Nov. 3 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
It’s also pretty darn clear at this point just what MacGyver is going to be up against — threats, really ones on every side when he gets down into this country. This is a high-octane, high-stakes mission, and all of this basically translates to mean “this is going to be fun to watch.” If you like MacGyver when it really seems like there is no way out for these heroes, this episode is going to be one for you.
With that said upon looking at this synopsis there is one other thing that we do wonder: Will the Phoenix Foundation ever get their due? Are they okay with never getting it? We do feel for them in a way given that they have what is by and large a pretty thankless job. They go off, put their lives on the line, try to stop potential political upheaval, and at the end of the day then have to go off and continue to live their lives in relative obscurity. That is not always the easiest place for any character to be in the world since doing all of this work without any of the glory could be overwhelming. Jack especially seems like the sort of guy who would love a little more of the glory every now and then, don’t you think? The proof is in the pudding when you think about some of his actions.
