Chicago PD season 5 spoilers: Voight has an old friend…

Chicago PD season 5

There is one thing that surprises us about this Chicago PD season 5 story more so than anything else, and it’s that Voight has friends in the first place.

Nonetheless, this does turn out to be the case! According to The Hollywood ReporterEpisodes actor John Pankow has his first big TV gig since the end of that show over on Showtime, and here he will be playing the part of Judge Wells, an old friend of Jason Beghe’s character who he knows from all the way back when they were in the Police Academy. We have a feeling that both of them were very different people back in the day, and we wonder precisely what their friendship/relationship could even look like now. What we know about Wells now is that he is held in high regard across the entire city, and he’s the sort of person everyone wants to see good things happen to. With that in mind, it’s going to be incredibly depressing for some people when they see something terrible happen in the city, and it impacts the judge in a way that few people were expected.

In the end, Voight is going to do everything that he can to lend a helping hand here and ensure that justice is proper served. You’re going to have a chance to see him starting in the fall finale on November 29. We’ll see if this role extends beyond this episode in any way, but it’s probably a little bit too early to tell that at the moment.

For now, what we can say is that Voight probably is in a position where he needs some more friends in high places and prominent positions. Just remember for a moment where he stands in the city of Chicago. While we don’t think there is anyone out there who is questioning his abilities as a detective, there are some who may be wondering — and with good reason — whether or not his methods are wrong. Denny Woods is breathing down his neck over the way in which he’s handled several cases, police reform is causing him to have to be less violent in interrogations, and there are people certainly watching some of his detectives now — including Adam Ruzek.

Ultimately, the thing that is the worst about Voight at the moment is the thing that Denny doesn’t have any idea of at the moment: How far he is willing to go in order to stop bad guys in their tracks. He’s a vigilante, and that murder we saw earlier on this season was especially gruesome.
