Chicago PD season 5 episode 5 preview: Will Atwater move his family away?

Every action has consequences, and it doesn’t matter if you are a police officer or a criminal. On Chicago PD season 5 episode 5, that’s a key story in the aftermath of what happened with Kevin Atwater tonight. This character made the decision to use his little brother’s testimony as a witness in order to ensure that a bad guy was put away.

Unfortunately, we have a feeling moving into this episode that we’re going to see in turn another shoe dropping — to be specific, Atwater has to be concerned for his family. By allowing his brother to be a snitch, in turn he could be putting a much bigger target on his back — it’s not intended, but the end result in the end could still be the end result.

Chicago PD season 5 episode 5 synopsis – “When Intelligence busts a meth lab run by gang leader Marshall Carter (guest star Aaron Roman Weiner), they uncover a re-homing scam in which children adopted from foreign countries are abandoned, then sold online. Meanwhile, Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) struggles with the difficult decision about whether to move his siblings Jordan (guest star Kylen Davis) and Vinessa (guest star Bobbi MacKenzie) to a safer environment outside of Chicago. Starring Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, Marina Squerciati, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Guest starring Ethan Nguyen and Patrick Thompson.”

Atwater is clearly a hero, and we do think that Jordan did the right thing on tonight’s episode. Yet, there are consequences for every action and if Atwater ends up moving his family, you have to wonder what that in turn could mean.

The case certainly does appear to be pretty fascinating, but it does feel a little bit early to definitely say one way or another what is going to be coming as a result of it. Just know that the theme of this season — police reform — could continue to echo through every story.
