The Flash season 4: Is Keiynan Lonsdale leaving as Wally West?

Is Keiynan Lonsdale leavingIs Keiynan Lonsdale leaving The Flash and the role of Wally West? At the end of Tuesday night’s new episode, we got an indication he was.

After all, what we do know is that Wally is going to be going away for a while in order to pursue other things and a life of his own. He had a good reason to do so — over the course of the episode, Kid Flash took a back seat while the rest of Barry Allen’s team took on Hazard, and what he was doing was rather simple: He was off tracking down Jesse Quick on Earth-2 as he tried to fix a relationship that wasn’t going to be fixed. In the process, he realized that the team there in Central City didn’t need him. With that, he decided to take off for a little while and pursue some other opportunities for himself.

For Wally West the character this doesn’t shock us at all given the fact that he is the sort of guy who wants to have a name for himself and there’s really only so much room for one Speedster in Central City. For Lonsdale the actor it may also make some sense to do some different things — we know that he’s into music and has a lot of other causes.

Do we think that this exit is permanent? Not in the slightest, given that Kid Flash has plenty of fans out there and this feels akin somewhat to a Roy Harper situation where he could come back at any time. We actually think that he will be around more than Roy has been on Arrow as of late. (Actually, we think we’ll see him more than we see Roy.)

Lonsdale has been a big part of the show for the past couple of years and if anything, this move by the writers right now seems to be to just reduce the total number of speedsters that there are running around Central City. After all, there has been plenty of them as of late, and with a non-speedster Big Bad this year it’s understandable that the show may want to try on some different things.

What do you think: Will we see Kid Flash return to The Flash at some point in the future? Be sure to share in the comments.
