Ink Master: Angels preview: Meet High Noon, Jose Rosado, Mel Vespertine

Mel Vespertine

Tonight on Spike Ink Master: Angels is heading off to South Florida for an episode themed in Miami; while there, you’ll get a chance to meet three new artists in High Noon, Jose Rosado, and Mel Vespertine.

So who are these three artists? Here’s a quick rundown of who these people are before you see their work in action in the episode.

High Noon – With 11 years experience he’s worked more in this industry than we’ve seen from the majority of the artists this season. He’s a guy who loves to take risks and do big, powerful, and colorful tattoos that make an impression almost right away.

Jose Rosado – He’s also got a lot of experience under his belt with nine years tattooing, and he’s known much more for black-and-gray realism. He boasts that he can do almost anything, and it turns out that Jose and High Noon actually know each other.

Mel Vespertine – Mel’s also been doing work in this industry for nine years and she does a lot of geometric tattoos. Like Jose, though, she claims that she can do pretty much anything.

You can see what the first challenge is for these three over at the link here — the premise is basically the same as the first two episodes in that they only have a couple of hours to create something great. What’s the twist here? It’s so simple as having to do a tattoo on the butt, which has to be uncomfortable for many reasons. One of the biggest things to remember here is that they’ve all probably done this before, so what’s uncomfortable to them is probably not as uncomfortable to us.

While we like the ambition that some of these artists show our feeling here is that this really isn’t all that competitive of a showdown — one of these tattoos is clearly better than the others, and we’re interested in seeing if the judges agree with us. This should be an interesting, competitive episode just because all of these artists are a little bit more experienced than we’ve seen in some of the other cities. While they don’t have a season of Ink Master under their belt, we here at CarterMatt do think that they are probably qualified and capable of taking on the Angels in a way that some other artists in the past haven’t been. (With that said, Breanna Smith last week, despite not being the most experienced artist we’ve seen, managed to overthrow Gia Rose and secure herself a spot on Ink Master season 10. Sometimes, experience doesn’t matter as much as creativity and understanding of proper tattoo technique.)
