Bull season 2 episode 4 video: Meet Brad Garrett’s Ron Getman
For some evidence of this, the sneak peek below gives you a little more insight into not just Getman, but how Bull feels about him. This man was a personal idol of his — he even studied him in college! This is why it makes sense that when Bull finds himself in a bind and needs some outside representation he seeks out Getman for some help making it better.
What he finds, however, is not the man he pictured. Getman is calling a local deli his office, is working in an outer borough as opposed to Manhattan (in Bull’s mind this is shocking), and he just doesn’t seem to have any real enthusiasm around himself or any of the work that he does. Ron can see that he’s let Bull down and seems mostly intent on just getting the meeting over with. He’s beaten down — maybe over the course of the episode we’ll learn a little bit more why, but this character feels a little bit like John Turturro’s John Stone in The Night Of, with the big difference here being that Getman at one point seemed to have a much better career than what Stone ever did on the HBO show. Something’s just happened along the way.
The mission here within this episode appears to be twofold. From one vantage point this could be a story about trying to find a way in order to clear Bull of what he’s facing; beyond that, though, we could see this also being about Jason trying to bring Getman back to what he was during some of his glory years. Garrett is the perfect cast for this role given that he can play down-on-his-luck guys really well; yet, we also know that he can be strong, formidable, and highly accomplished. Hopefully we get a chance to see both of these at one point or another during this episode.
Also, hopefully this is not the only appearance from Brad Garrett’s Ron Getman that we get this season. This feels like the perfect character to add to the lengthy stable of great Bull guest stars we get to see here and there during the show’s run.
