Fear the Walking Dead season 3 finale: Is Alicia, Strand, or Daniel dead?

Alycia Debnam-Carey

The Fear the Walking Dead season 3 finale aired on AMC on Sunday night, and there were many questions that came about as a result of that.

Is Alycia Debnam-Carey leaving the show? What about Colman Domingo? We have to think that both are possibilities as the dam explosion ended up potentially claiming so many lives. Alicia is still in there. Meanwhile, so is Victor Strand and Daniel Salazar. Madison looks to be alive, but the fate of many other characters out there is still in the ether.

The one person for sure dead? Troy Otto, which is a real shame given that Daniel Sharman really reinvigorated the show this season. He was one of the best things that the show had going for it.

So why create this cliffhanger? One of the big reasons could just be the massive creative overhaul that is coming at the end of season 3. Dave Erickson, who ran the first three seasons of the show, is departing and be replaced by Ian H. Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss, formerly of Once Upon a Time. Meanwhile, Scott M. Gimple of The Walking Dead will also be more involved. However the show resolves this cliffhanger will give the show a big reset, though we’re not going to sit here and say that the show really needed one. It was going really well! This was the strongest season on the show to date.

Now, let’s hope that Alicia, Daniel, Nick, and Strand are all still around, mostly because we cannot stand losing too many more longtime characters from the show. Remember that we already lost Travis and Ofelia this season, and that’s without even mentioning the three members of the Otto family who died over the course of nine episodes. (Didn’t that happen a little quickly?)

Fear the Walking Dead will return at some point in the new year with more episodes. Odds are, we’ll start to get a sense of who lives or dies a little bit before that.
