Outlander season 4 filming specifics; Caitriona Balfe’s campaign

Caitriona Balfe's campaign

Ready for another dose of Outlander notes this weekend? This is another chance to dive into some of the latest and greatest from the show and its cast.

Let’s start this story off specifically with star Caitriona Balfe, given that we did note yesterday that she had a “surprise” coming that she was sharing at some point today. That surprise has now been revealed, and it is a new sweatshirt/t-shirt campaign through the Represent platform. Proceeds from every shirt are going to World Child Cancer, the organization she supports with great regularity, time, and effort. It’s clearly a great cause, and it’s also a chance to show your love and appreciation for Caitriona’s character of Claire Fraser. It’s also a really unique bit of show-related merchandise that will be hard to get once the campaign is over. That’s effectively the genius of it: You essentially getting a collector’s item while also giving back to a specific cause simultaneously. Give back by purchasing a shirt or just giving to the organization directly.

In general, we have seen the Represent platform being used more and more by television stars to give back. Some examples of this include Supernatural star Jared Padalecki and also Stephen Amell of Arrow fame. We imagine that these campaigns will become even more popular over time as more TV stars see the value in them to raise awareness and connect more with fans.

Now, let’s move on to another major subject: Season 4 filming!

What was done this week?

For everyone who was wondering precisely what was done this week in Scotland on the season 4 set, we’ve not got a much better idea now!

In a post on Twitter (see the bottom of the article) executive producer Maril Davis confirmed that out of the array of scenes filming this week the first four days were spent outdoors, dealing with the conditions and the rain that come with being in this part of the world. Meanwhile, the fifth day was indoors — which makes sense given some of what’s been noted online. There are obviously many interior scenes that do need to be shot for this show, though probably less than more modern-set series when there were many more reasons for people to be inside. Given that so much of this show is about the beauty of the wilderness it does make sense to be outdoors as much as humanly possible. For season 4, what will be interesting is seeing how the production chooses the augment the beauty of Scotland in our to better replicate the beauty of North Carolina.
