Arrow season 6 episode 2 preview: Anatoly returns to Star City

Arrow season 6 episode 2

When Arrow season 6 episode 2 airs on The CW come October 19, one of the main events will be the return of none other than Anatoly. The cliffhanger will be over, new villains are on the scene, and the dynamic for one Oliver Queen is now totally different. He now has to juggle actual responsibility in having a son in his life, something that he didn’t have before. Bringing Anatoly into the fold is just the icing atop the cake in terms of drama given his often-ambiguous motives and interest in following the beat of his own drummer.

If you look below, you can get the tiniest bit of scoop as to what is coming up here.

Arrow season 6 episode 2 synopsis – “Oliver (Stephen Amell) tries to balance being the mayor, the Green Arrow and a father to William (guest star Jack Moore). Anatoly (guest star David Nykl) returns to Star City with a deadly agenda. Laura Belsey directed the episode with story by Adam Schwartz and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Beth Schwartz (#602). Original airdate 10/19/2017.”

Just in case you were wondering why in the world Arrow is not giving more away here, the biggest reason for that is due to the cliffhanger. This synopsis was revealed via press release many weeks ago, well before it was officially unveiled what transpired in “Liam Yu.” Therefore it makes a certain degree of sense for the networks involved to keep things a little hush-hush in terms of some of the larger stories. We look at this episode almost as old meets new for the show. Anatoly is a character who is very much tied to Oliver’s past now, and while technically William was a part of his past in terms of how he was conceived, Oliver hasn’t really had much of a relationship with him. This story will continue to explore that, and it’s going to be difficult and trying for him to digest it. We do feel like by the time this episode airs we’re going to have even more opportunities to see the story amped up. There are super-high expectations after the story of last season, but we do think here at CarterMatt that Arrow has now figured out more of the show it wants to be — one that’s action-packed but also mature. It’s the original CW superhero show; therefore, it has had time to evolve.
