Gotham season 4 episode 5 preview: Butch Gilzean / Solomon Grundy arrives

When Gotham season 4 episode 5 airs on Fox come Thursday, October 19, there will be one thing that stands out almost immediate: Solomon Grundy. This is an iconic, notorious Batman villain who is capable of causing all sorts of carnage, and you have to imagine that Drew Powell is going to have a whole lot of fun in this role. The show, likely knowing that they don’t want to do too much at one time, took their time before getting to his debut. Now that we’re almost there, you’re going to see him get a showcase he may not have had otherwise.

Gotham season 4 episode 5 synopsis – “Nygma comes face-to-face with Butch Gilzean, but he is not who he used to be. In an attempt to regain power and identity, Nygma decides to put his former partner’s skills to the test. Meanwhile, Sofia Falcone takes action to protect her own life by appealing to Penguin’s vulnerable side. With the power of the dagger in his possession, Bruce surprises those around him with his bold actions in the all-new “A Dark Knight: The Blade’s Path” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Oct. 19 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX.”

In true Gotham fashion there are a number of different things happening all at the same time, and it’s hard to be anything other than thrilled about it since most of them bring different things to the table. We’ll be seeing a little more in the way of Sofia’s emotional power — sometimes influence means more than strength or ability, and learning this about her could help to show more of why she is a threat to people like the Penguin or some of the other people that he comes into contact with.

As for Bruce Wayne … in general there are reasons why criminals should be wary about him. Much of that ultimately goes without saying thanks in part to the person he becomes in the comics.
