The Last Ship season 5 premiere date hopes for Eric Dane, cast
Unfortunately we’re far too early in the process between seasons to know for sure when the show will be coming back, but there is one clear answer that we can go ahead and say: Summer. Summer can mean June or August, but it’s summer nonetheless. This is the season that the series has premiered every year since it first debuted on the network and there’s not all that much of a reason for them to change that up now … even though they really should change it up so that the show comes on earlier in the summer.
We feel like it’s been fairly well-documented at this point that The Last Ship season 4 is suffering somewhat in the ratings, and to us this is not something you have to look all that far in order to find an explanation to. Just look at the competition that is on a little bit later in the fall, whether it be NFL football or more recently the premiere of some primetime network programming. It also had to face Game of Thrones at one point alongside Ray Donovan and Fear the Walking Dead over on AMC. That’s a lot for any one show to have to deal with. It did keep some of its loyal viewers and we’re thrilled with that, but we’re absolutely nervous over its future.
For one, Eric Dane and the rest of the cast seem to have the green light to pursue other projects now. Meanwhile, there is also the Travis Van Winkle post suggesting that season 5 is the show’s final season — even if TNT denied that a decision has been made in a statement, you don’t say something on social media unless you’ve heard chatter about the show’s end somewhere.
Also, remember that TNT seems to have a habit these days of ending shows people love. Look at Major Crimes, which just learned earlier this week that the thirteen episodes coming up are going to be the last for the show. (Side note: We were at the 100th episode party for Major Crimes this weekend! Be on the lookout for some exclusives on that throughout the month of October.)
