This Doctor Who – Peter Capaldi tribute video will melt your heart
The video (which you can see below) features footage from all over the world from various Whovians doing their part to thank him for his years of service, great performances, and also being a wonderful ambassador to the show. When it comes to performers who are constantly great to their fans time and time again, Capaldi is up there with Arrow star Stephen Amell as one of the best. Despite working for the vast majority of the year on the show he still traveled to conventions all over the world and did his best to meet countless fans. He understood the responsibility of the job given that he was a Doctor Who fan himself as a child. He may not have been available to fans on social media, but he was available to them in just about every other way possible. He was an inspiration in person just like The Doctor was an inspiration on the show itself.
The timing of the video is perfect given that this is the final New York Comic-Con that Capaldi will attend as the active star of the show. If he comes back to conventions after December he will be doing so of his own accord — which he has often done in the past. The Christmas Special airing on the BBC later this year is the final one as his version of The Doctor. It will feature him near the end of his life alongside the first Doctor (David Bradley is playing William Hartnell’s iteration), and the two will struggle together to make it through. Pearl Mackie has already been confirmed to be a part of the special, and we’ve got a good feeling that you will also see Jenna Coleman in the role, as well.
Ultimately, we at CarterMatt salute Peter Capaldi, we thank him for years of being amazing, and we eagerly await seeing what Jodie Whittaker brings to the role. Peter already said earlier this weekend that he believes Jodie will be sensational and on another level as her version of The Doctor; we’ve got every reason in the world to want to believe here.
