Scandal season 7 episode 3 spoilers: The story of Fitzgerald Grant

Moving into Scandal season 7 episode 3, are we going to have a chance to learn more regarding what’s going on with Fitz? We absolutely hope so. Tony Goldwyn’s character was not a big part of the first episode of the show, and that was probably intentional when you think about where he is at now. He’s not the President anymore, and with that there is less of a reason for him to be intimately involved in the story at the White House. He deserves a chance to see what the future holds for him and he’s doing that in Vermont.

Now that we’ve say all of this, Scandal season 7 episode 3 will throw him back into the fray somehow. This episode is entitled “Day 101,” and the synopsis below offers up a little more in the way of information on what’s coming:

“During the first 100 days of Mellie’s presidency, Fitz stays out of the limelight in Vermont where he takes up life as an ordinary citizen for the first time in years. Marcus joins the former POTUS to begin important work on the Fitzgerald Grant III Presidential Library.”

Much like many other former Presidents, one of the first things that Fitz is going to try to do is figure out a great way to preserve his legacy. We don’t quite blame him for that. He had a long, crazy, and tumultuous Presidency with one scandal after another; he now has peace, and he’s probably reveling in that while also trying his best to figure out how to properly commemorate all of the time that he had in office. Libraries are also supposed to be a way to better pave the way to the future and encourage those in the future who want to be President someday. We do hope that there are some opportunities to see some of what Fitz’s life is like now before the show inevitably throws him into some other drama.

One of the things that is inevitable about this show is that one way or another, you have to assume that Olivia Pope and Fitz are on a collision course with each other. They are going to find a way to get mixed up with each other no matter what transpires just because that seems to be the way of things. We don’t know 100% that this will be the end of their story, but doesn’t this feel like close to a lock at the moment?
