Scandal season 7 episode 2 preview: Kerry Washington & a back-up plan

Scandal season 7 episode 2

Scandal season 7 episode 2 is going to be coming onto ABC next week, and signs point towards one Olivia Pope continuing to get a larger understanding of what role she’s going to play in present-day politics. Are some of the skills that she learned while at Olivia Pope & Associates going to be effective moving into her job as Chief of Staff? We should find out more when “Pressing the Flesh” airs in just one week’s time. This is a story that revolves in part around Olivia trying to come up with a series of plans to ensure that a state dinner goes according to plan; however, knowing what we do about Scandal both at the moment and over the years, it probably won’t.

The synopsis below does offer up a few of the first details we’ve got in terms of what lies ahead in this story.

Scandal season 7 episode 2 synopsis – “President Mellie Grant hosts a state dinner for President Rashad of Bashran in a first step toward peace in the Middle East, and in case Mellie’s charm alone doesn’t work, Olivia secretly puts Jake to work so that they are armed with a back-up plan. Meanwhile, the team at Quinn Perkins & Associates attends the party in hopes to gain more high-profile clientele.”

The first thing we should note here is that Bashran, the country listed in the synopsis, is purely fictional. This is something that we’ve come to see many network shows do in order to keep countries from getting angry at having their shows stereotyped or generalized in some way. Meanwhile, we should say that getting Jake involved in anything at this point is touchy just because of his baggage. He’s going a lot of it, and you are really relying heavily that he won’t do anything dangerous.

As for Quinn Perkins & Associates, the biggest thing that we can say is that we’re rooting for them to somehow find a way. It’s not hard following Olivia’s footsteps at anything, let alone one in which she did such an amazing job getting her own company off of the ground.

Tonight we had a chance to Olivia go out of her way in order to help a spy captured in Bashran. She threatened an ambassador in order to ensure that said spy would be okay. That worked, but the question you have to wonder now is this: What are the consequences?
