Bachelor Winter Games casts Peter Kraus, gives ABC instant ratings

Bachelor Winter GamesIf ABC wanted to ensure that Bachelor Winter Games gets some instant ratings when it comes on the air, it’s getting that with Peter Kraus.

Earlier tonight, franchise creator Mike Fleiss finally confirmed that Peter is going to be heading to the aforementioned spin-off, which is presumably going to air around the time of the actual Winter Games, which will be taking place on NBC. This seems mostly like a silly experiment to get people together from around the world for some romance-themed competitions — nobody quite knows exactly what the format is going to be, but getting Peter almost ensures that people are going to watch.

The fact that it comes to this with Peter is a big surprise in itself given that as of the end of Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette he was considered the runaway lock to become the next Bachelor. As a matter of fact we feel pretty confident he was the first choice. Something went wrong along the way and now we’ve got Arie Luyendyk Jr. on that show, which is going to be interesting mostly in that there don’t seem to be all that many people exactly about him being there.

Hopefully over the coming weeks there will be some more Bachelor Winter Games stars announced, but we do feel like it’d be smart for ABC to try and grab some more big names from the franchise. Think along the lines of a Kristina Schulman, an Ashley Iaconetti, a Ben Higgins, and maybe even an Eric Bigger from this past season. If the show isn’t as ridiculous as Bachelor in Paradise you may have an easier time getting some people on board. Much of it probably just depends on how much you are willing to explain to them what the show is in advance. (We’ll have more at CarterMatt as we learn more.)

For now, though, Peter Kraus fans have something to celebrate — you are going to be seeing him on TV somewhere in the future. It’s just not going to be on the show you want.
