The Nepotist: new series in development at Fox from Jimmy Kimmel

The Nepotist

Jimmy Kimmel and his brother Jonathan Kimmel are producing a new comedy at Fox titled The Nepotist.

According to Deadline, Fox is developing The Nepotist and is is association with 20th Century Fox TV. Jimmy Kimmel’s Meadow Lark Lane Productions is in association with the project. Jimmy and Jonathan Kimmel will executive produce. In addition, Jonathan Kimmel will also write for the series.

The series is set to be a multi-camera series that will poke fun at nepotism, as per the description below:

The Nepotist centers on Tom Primo who has had enough of keeping his mother, son, daughter and ex-wife employed, but he’s got too much heart (and guilt) to fire them. Josh Dixon is the answer to all of Tom’s problems; he’s smart, hard working, kind and just the guy to supervise the most volatile and least qualified coworkers on Earth.”

For those who don’t know what nepotism is it is defined as “the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.” The concept on the show comes from Jonathan’s experience of being employed by his brother.

The overall concept intrigues us because we don’t believe there has ever been the concept of nepotism on television. Many of the shows on television have similar franchises but demonstrate it in many different ways. However, to our knowledge no show has included nepotism in its franchise. We love this because it’s new and fresh and with television at its best, it’s great to see that a new concept is being introduced to our screens.

We also have no doubts that show will be incredibly funny. After all, Jimmy and Jonathan Kimmel are two funny people and have been making audiences laugh for years. We are so guessing that the show may also poke fun at other concepts as well. Jimmy Kimmel has become a big advocate for healthcare and he might poke fun at this and other topics on his series in order to bring them more into the spotlight where they belong.

Currently Jonathan Kimmel serves as a writer and set director on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Before being employed on his brother’s ABC show, Jonathan wrote and produced Crank Yankers, The Andy Milonakis Show, and South Park.
