KC Undercover season 4 not happening; Zendaya series ending
Is this altogether surprising? Not entirely, as she found herself in a very similar position to many other Disney Channel stars before her — her level of fame was starting to escalate thanks to being in movies and other projects and that meant that sooner or later, the show was going to drop the curtain. That time just happens to be now.
Is three seasons a great run for a show? Maybe if you compare it to some of the other network shows out there you wouldn’t think so; however, you do have to remember that this is a Disney Channel show and there are plenty of those under the sun that don’t last all that long at all. For one example, you can just look at the recent run of Girl Meets World, which only went for three seasons despite an enormous fan campaign to save it and then eventually try to find it a new home. Meanwhile, the future of another show in Raven’s Home is still largely up in the air. The reason that we cite these two shows in particular is because if any show was going to be able to find itself on the air for many years on end, it would be these just because they already came from established franchises.
Here’s another interesting point — Hannah Montana, arguably one of the most successful Disney Channel shows of all time, only ran for four seasons. If that’s not a definite sign that these shows have short runs, nothing is. At least KC Undercover seems to have had a chance to end on its own terms, and we’ll wait and see what is coming up from here. It will be a little while until we get to see the final episode.
