Ink Master: Angels video: Meet Tone Chingon, Carrie Cameron, Infamous Jones

Tone Chingon

Tone Chingon, Carrie Cameron, and Infamous Jones are going to be appearing on the Ink Master: Angels premiere on Tuesday night. Want to see a sneak preview of their arrival?

The video below offers up an extended look at some of what you can expect from the first episode of the show, including how some of the format is going to work. The first episode is set in Las Vegas (condolences to everyone out there at the moment), and you will see the aforementioned three artists compete for a chance to make it onto the cast of Ink Master season 10. Here’s how it works: They will face off in a series of competitions against each other, and then at the end of the episode the winner will do battle with an Angel of their choice (Ryan Ashley Malarkey, Kelly Doty, Gia Rose, or Nikki Simpson). If they win their battle, they get a chance to compete on the next season of the show. If they lose … well, they lose. It’s pretty simple in that sense.

In this preview you see Tone, Carrie, and Infamous compete in their first challenge — within Tone’s own shop, mind you. He clearly has the home-field advantage between the artists, and you would think that he would be able to use that to his advantage. He does seem to come out with a nice tattoo at the end of the day, but he does have a pretty good freak-out when his power supply doesn’t work properly.

There are a couple of different things that could make the format for this show pretty effective. For one, you’re getting a chance to see a different story and a different competition every week; in that sense, the show’s relatively evergreen and can be played in repeats however much the folks over at Spike want for it to. Also, in only having three artists you get a good sense as to who everyone is and there is no waiting for the edit to pick up on someone like we often see during Ink Master. This show works as a unique concept in its own right, but it could also add that much more investment in Ink Master season 10. After going through Ink Master: Angels you’re probably going to be all the more invested in getting to see what transpires with some of the contestants lucky enough to advance … provided of course that there are contestants who do actually win the battle against one of the four Angels at the end of the episode. It’s possible they all strike out given that they’re competing against some of the best of the best.
