Outlander season 3 episode 4 ratings set another series viewership record!

Outlander season 3 episode 4 ratings

Interested in some of the first Outlander season 3 episode 4 ratings discussion? If so, we’re happy to provide a reason to celebrate.

This past episode of the Starz series, which paid host to a fantastic Sam Heughan performance as Jamie’s life as a groomsman experienced some unexpected twists and turns, broke its own series record for the second straight week. The show this time around drew approximately 1.59 million live+same-day viewers, up from last week’s series record 1.55 million. While we were hopeful that we would see the ratings rise yet again for this episode, there was nothing in the way of scheduling that validated that they would in advance. (We like to sometimes come into episodes with bold predictions — we thought before episode 3×03 that there was a good chance of the show breaking its own record.)

Remember, Outlander aired on this past Sunday opposite the full network fall schedule for the first time this year, and in between that and the NFL it beating its own record is all the more impressive. If you love the show you’ve got a lot to be proud of here! That’s especially true for those of you who watched the episode on the app overnight or in the morning only to then also watch it when it aired later. Basically, these are people who wanted to ensure that it got the ratings tabulated for Starz. While app views do count, we often don’t hear about that ratings data until a little bit later in the season.

So what’s the endgame in reporting weekly about the ratings at CarterMatt? It’s not to get the show a fourth season given that this was already ordered by Starz over a year ago; instead, it’s looking more towards the future beyond that. If the show is granted a fifth season we’d like for the renewal to come by the end of the season, given that this gives Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Matthew B. Roberts, and the rest of the team opportunities to come up with the story and the logistics needed to make the show as successful as it can be. Given that there are already eight Diana Gabaldon books in publication and there are more on the way, there’s no reason to think that the show will be ending at any point in the near future. (It’s a little early to think about the endgame, but still.)

As a weekly reminder, these live+same-day viewers don’t include people who watch repeat airings of the show or people who caught the show via DVR the day after. This is a small piece of the overall pie, but it’s an important one because these are some of the diehard viewers of the show who don’t want to miss it and are committed to watching it the day of.
