Who was eliminated on Dancing with the Stars Monday night?

At this point in the competitions, one of the things that we’ve been able to figure out is that it’s rather difficult to gauge what the voting public will decide. We suppose that, based on scores alone, you could predict that Barbara Corcoran would be the first Star sent home by the public. However, what was a little bit more of a surprise was learning that Debbie Gibson was the one to follow her out the door the following night.

Going into this episode it was a little bit easier to narrow down the field of possible candidates to leave to a smaller grouping. (Note that these were just our predictions — we were of course very wrong.

Terrell Owens – The former football star played for a lot of different teams over the course of his run, and one of the things that we’ve really gotten a chance to learn about this over time is that athletes who don’t have a loyal team following behind them often go home. His scores haven’t been all that great, either.

Nikki Bella – Based on scores alone you’d think that the wrestler would be in danger. She had the lowest total on this past episode and that often does have to be a barometer for whatever it is that America decides to do after the fact.

Sasha Pieterse – She had a rough show recently, and when you think about the fact that Pretty Little Liars is over you do have to wonder if she’s got the same audience that she once did.

The first couple who is officially “in jeopardy” on the night were … Nick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd? We didn’t seen that coming, just as we didn’t foresee Derek Fisher / Sharna Burgess also being in danger.

In the end the pair who left the show was Derek and Sharna, which makes a little more sense than Nick leaving. That would feel almost like viewers were punishing him over what was going on with Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Derek was never someone who we thought was going to win the show — unlike some other sports figures out there he doesn’t have the same sort of super-devoted following.
