Bull season 2 episode 2 video plays up Bull – Benny conflict
After all, the main focus of this episode (entitled “Already Gone”) is going to be trying to figure out whether or not Bull’s latest client is guilty of murder after helping his terminally-ill girlfriend to die. It was a move that he made by her apparent request, and what he did caused her to die. By the letter of the law, some could view this as murder. However, in the eyes of others this may be seen more of him helping to carry out her final wishes, even if it is one that brings about such an unfortunate end. The fact that she was going to die soon will likely be considered another factor in the case.
So where does the conflict between Bull and Benny lie? Well, much of it seems to be in how Benny interprets the law versus how Bull does. Benny believes that under the letter of the law what the client did was murder, and yet he’s on a side where he is forced to defend it. Odds are, this is not the only client in Benny’s history of the profession that he’s defended even if he felt as though the person was guilty; yet, there is something especially person that is going to come along with this case, and much of that has to do with his own religious faith. While you don’t see Benny arguing about that in either one of the two sneak peeks below courtesy of CBS, the feeling is that the show is slowly building to a place where we could see that discussion happening. It could be a difficult one for Bull to navigate; while he has challenged a number of institutions since the very beginning of the show, he could find himself having a far greater challenge standing up and proclaiming that someone else’s religious belief is wrong. He may just need to find another way of handling this situation so that Benny feels comfortable and that in the end the TAC’s mission is a success.
While we won’t know the verdict until tomorrow night, we at CarterMatt do believe that this case is an essential one for Bull and the TAC more than others. After all, if the team is unable to win this one it effectively means that there could be more trouble — Bull did just spend a good bit of money giving everyone a raise, so he needs to make bank.
