Outlander season 3 episode 4 sneak peek: Jamie and Geneva Dunsany

Geneva Dunsany is coming onto Outlander season 3 episode 4, and for those who know the books, she’s a rather big deal. There are certainly many a strong reaction about this character online already, and we figure that many show viewers can start to form one judging just from the sneak peek below via Starz.

Before we dive too far into here, let’s set the table for the setting. Jamie Fraser has a new job now as a groomsman — he is free from prison, and seems to have somewhat of a new lease on life. Yet, simultaneously we imagine that there still does have to be a great degree of fear in him. The Scottish people were under attack for many years, and were the wrong person to spot him it could still mean trouble. It’s not as though the veil of trauma and pain is completely lifted — also, he still doesn’t have the love of his life in Claire.

It’s a rather harsh transition going from the likes of Black Jack Randall to Geneva Dunsany, but that’s the transition Jamie will be making within this new role. Within this sneak peek it is clear that the Geneva character is very much a brat, and Jamie is clearly no fan of her attitude. He makes a snide comment, one that her sister overhears — and very much agrees with. Geneva doesn’t have a habit of making a whole lot of friends, even if she does seem to unite most of the other people around her against her.

We wish we could say that this is the only interaction that Sam Heughan’s character is going to have with the character; alas, that is not the case. (For those wondering, Geneva is being played by actress Hannah James, most notable for her work on the PBS drama Mercy Street. Our hope is that Outlander fans have a little mercy on her as a performer after the episode — this is not the easiest of roles to take on within this world.)

While you see Jamie’s story play out in this episode, Claire will do her part to find a way back to the man she loves. We’re jumping forward to after “Dragonfly in Amber” to where she, with the help of Brianna and Roger, will be trying to locate Jamie within the past. If she can do this, the journey to finding him when she actually gets there will be significantly easier.
